Major League Soccer star Alan Pulido saw red during the League Cup game for headbutting an opponent.

The Sporting Kansas City striker was shown straight red in the 30th minute of the match against FC Cincinnati after his cool loss.

Pulido tangled with Yerson Mosquera, on loan from Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers, as they jostled for the ball.

Frustrated by Pulido’s competition, Mosquera pushed his opponent to the back.

But Pulido reacted wildly in an overly aggressive fashion, putting his head in Mosquera’s face.

Referee Daniel Quintero Whitron immediately rushed in and showed a straight red card

Pulido brought in Mosquera, who was on loan from Wolves, to bring him down with his challenge.

Mosquera’s teammate Alvas Powell ran into Cincinnati captain Luciano Acosta, who yelled at Pulido to defend his player.

The incident happened right in front of referee Daniel Quintero Whitron, who rushed in and quickly showed a red card.

Kansas City were down to ten men for the remaining 60 minutes of the game and it proved instantly costly as they conceded shortly after through an own goal by goalkeeper Jon Poulskamp.

Brandon Vazquez scored for Cincinnati in the 56th minute with an assist from Acosta to tie the score at 2-2.

Gadi kind of put Kansas City up again, only for Acosta’s stoppage-time equalizer to tie the game at 3-3 late in the second half and force a penalty kick.

Cincinnati won the penalty shootout 4–2 and earned an extra point in their League Cup group.

Sporting Kansas City next face Guadalajara, but Pulido will be ineligible to face his former team.
