NYC Mayor Eric Adams Is Harassed By Protesters Over Homelessness – Then Gives A Strange Response

Adams was announcing his plan to rid city streets of sheds and scaffolding when a protester started shouting ‘F*k you, Eric Adams! ‘F*** you, a ******! You homeless man!’ The man yelled, “I’m messing with homeless people. You know? If somebody wants to make love to them, they should be happy,” Adams responded.

Adams was announcing his plan to rid city streets of sheds and scaffolding when a protester confronted the first-term mayor.

‘F*** you, Eric Adams! ‘F*** you, a ******! You homeless man!’ The person shouted.

Adams was caught off guard and tried to remain calm with his response but eventually suggested he was being accused of wanting to sleep with homeless people.

‘He said, “I’m messing with homeless people. You know? If somebody wants to make love to them, they should be happy,”‘ Adams said in response.

According to city researchers, the homeless population in New York City has increased by 18 percent over the past year.

Adams tackled homelessness and immigration issues during his first two years in office.

Adams declared a state of emergency in October 2022 and called on President Joe Biden, a fellow Democrat, to provide more resources and help immigrants get work permits.

New York City officials say it has served 90,000 immigrants since last spring and about 55,000 remain in its care.

Thousands of those migrants arrived by busloads sent by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, who has tried to shift the burden of receiving them to Democratic strongholds.

Two groups advocating for New York City’s homeless population — the Legal Aid Society and the Coalition for the Homeless — said in a joint statement that they are reviewing the legality of the new 60-day shelter limit.

‘This new policy raises many questions and concerns that the City has yet to address. It’s also not clear whether state officials have had any input on what the city has proposed to implement.’

They added that ‘the state has a legal obligation to ensure that those who lack shelter are safe and secure and protected from exposure to the elements.’

A new flyer plans to tour the New York City border highlights the high cost of housing, food and other necessities that immigrants will face if they travel to the U.S. financial center.

It reads in English and Spanish, ‘Please consider another city when deciding where to settle in the United States.’

Last month, NYC officials warned of a ‘tipping point’ in the city’s immigration crisis, with more than half of the record-breaking 100,000 people in the Big Apple’s homeless shelters being asylum seekers.

City Hall press secretary Fabien Levy called for more support from the state and federal government, saying it is ‘caring for more asylum seekers than New Yorkers experiencing chronic homelessness.’

Under Mayor Adams, the city has spent more than a billion dollars since the influx of immigrants began in early 2022.

Spending will reach $4.4 billion by next year.

Earlier this year, Adams visited the US-Mexico border and called the situation “a disaster” that needed to be addressed at the federal level.

The visit comes after governors from Republican-led states like Florida and Texas began busing and flying immigrants to New York City in 2022.

New York City has opened more than 188 sites for immigrants, including 18 humanitarian relief centers. Adams previously called on places of worship to help house immigrants.

“My vision is to take the next step in this faith-based locale and then move into a private residence … they have spare rooms,” Adams said.
