Harrowing before-and-after footage has revealed the charred remains of sun loungers and pool-side umbrellas at a luxury five-star resort and spa in Rhodes that was destroyed in the blaze.
Lindos Imperial Resort and Spa, in the village of Kyotari, was one of the hotels evacuated as the wildfires spread across the Greek island. A video shared on TikTok shows the resort’s poolside area.
The clip first pans around to show families relaxing on sun loungers while children happily play in the pool.
But the footage moved to the pool area after it was taken down. Destruction scenes show what’s left of the wrecked sun loungers, with most of what was in the first clip completely burned away. The ground is covered with ash.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Lindos Imperial said it was ‘temporarily closed until further notice’ as a result of the ongoing fire.

In a statement posted on Instagram, Lindos Imperial said it was ‘temporarily closed until further notice’ as a result of the ongoing fire.
Yesterday, a woman staying at the hotel wrote on Facebook: ‘For anyone wondering, Lindos is staying at the Imperial and everyone was evacuated yesterday.
‘There is no further information but everyone had to leave without their belongings and was taken elsewhere.
‘A sports hall in Faliraki is still much more than a bed. (The footage was recorded of my sister being taken away from the hotel in a boat).’
Commenting on an update on the situation hours later, he added: ‘Update. When they went to collect our stuff today, the neighborhood was burnt and there was ash everywhere. The beach is burnt.’
He said the hotel itself appeared to be ‘intact’, adding that the resort had informed him that the building was not on fire.
In its statement, the hotel said it is open to those with personal belongings on the property to collect them. But it added that transfers cannot be provided there.
“The safety and well-being of our guests and staff is our highest priority and we have taken these precautionary measures to ensure everyone’s safety,” the statement said.
‘We would like to stress that we are in constant contact with the local authorities, monitoring the situation closely. Rest assured, we are taking all necessary measures to handle the situation responsibly and ensure a safe environment for everyone.
‘During this challenging time, we express our deepest gratitude for your understanding and support. If you have any concerns or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our team.

The terrifying clip also shows the evacuated pair on a rescue journey as they film lifeboats taking tourists and locals to safety.
Mrs Hughes, 35, and her husband John paid £3,600 for a 10-night stay at the Lindos Imperial in Chiotari but were forced to leave their belongings and vacate the hotel which later burnt down.
‘We were trying to keep ourselves together but Emilia could see it wasn’t right. He understood that,’ Mrs Hughes told The Sun.
‘He said several times “Are we going to die?”. It’s something I won’t forget for a long time. ‘I haven’t stopped crying since I got home.’

A woman who was trying to get help for her daughter said: ‘My daughter Kel, her husband and two young children and another family of four had to run for their lives from the Princess Andreana Resort and Spa.
‘They walked for miles to escape and nobody gave them anything to drink except the locals.’
“We are on the seventh day of the fire and it has not been brought under control,” Rhodes’ deputy mayor Konstantinos Taraslias told state broadcaster ERT. ‘It’s really stressful for us, because it can affect other areas that work as safe and normal.
Tourists do not know where the fires of Rhodes are. Even the Greeks do not understand where the fires are located on the island.
