Channel Nine addresses Scott Cam’s future on The Block, claiming he is ‘ready to leave’ the series

Channel Nine has claimed that Scott Cam is preparing to leave The Block at the end of its 19th season this year.

An insider told Yahoo! Over the weekend the Lifestyle TV veteran and beloved host was planning to step down from the highly successful renovation juggernaut after 13 years at the helm.

A Nine spokesperson denied the claim on Monday evening, saying ‘the report is not true’.

The statement comes after the creator-turned-reality TV host, 60, is apparently nearing the end of his contract at Nine and plans to fine tune his toolkit later this year.

‘Scotty Cam’s contract is up and it’s believed he’s not signing any more after this,’ an insider told Yahoo! Lifestyle.

The source also claims that Cam will likely be replaced by a former contestant on The Block when he eventually steps down.

‘Audiences don’t like change especially when it comes to replacing the host – so it makes sense to rely on familiar-looking contestants to make up for the absence.’

Channel Nine have been contacted for comment on their star’s decision to leave the show.

The shock claims come after this year’s season of The Block Wrapped was filmed on Charming Street in Melbourne’s Hampton East.

After a huge year of top-building topped by a controversial auction last season, the next line-up of contestants can expect to go even harder in the competition.

With $100,000 in prize money up for grabs, the contestants will be put to the test as they are tasked with building a separate granny flat in addition to the family home.

In 2022, winners Omar and Oz walked away with $1,686,666.66, the biggest win on the show.

Meanwhile Cam is preparing to attend the TV Week Logie Awards on Sunday after being nominated for the Bart Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter.

He is competing for the gong against Hamish Blake, Julia Morris, Sean Micallef, Sonya Kruger and Tony Armstrong.

The Block was also nominated for Most Popular Reality TV Program and Most Outstanding Reality Program.

Cam’s work on The Block has already seen him scoop a number of accolades, including the Silver Logie for Most Popular Presenter and the coveted Gold Logie for Most Popular Australian TV Personality in 2014.

A spokesperson for Nine denied the claim on Monday evening, saying ‘the report is not true’.
