Police have charged a man with kidnapping a schoolgirl in Perth
A man has been charged after allegedly abducting and assaulting a nine-year-old girl as she walked to school in a Perth suburb.
Ryan Ashley Darken, 37, was hit with four charges including assaulting a person, depriving him of liberty and restraining another person with intent to prevent/obstruct assault after the incident in Warnbro, south of the city.
A parent of the school alleged that the girl was seen getting into a silver ute at around 8.45am on Friday and was later found in distress, barefoot and with her hands tied with cables, outside a nearby supermarket.
The parent who saw the girl entering UTA immediately became suspicious and alerted the school, which launched a major police operation when her whereabouts were not accounted for.
Darken will appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday.
