Close friends of Tori Spelling are ‘worried sick’ about the actress who has gone ‘AWOL’ amid her split from Dean McDermott – ignoring calls and texts from friends, and even missing events to promote her new home decor line.
According to a source close to the 50-year-old – who was recently spotted staying in a $100-a-night motel with her five children – she has been incredibly difficult to contact in recent weeks, ever since news of her impending divorce from Dean, 56, became public.
‘Tori hasn’t been returning calls and has sort of gone AWOL, causing her close friends to get sick,’ a friend told Newstimesuk.com.
The source also revealed that Tori’s estranged husband Dean has expressed serious concerns about his wife staying in a motel with their children – Liam, 16, Stella, 15, Hattie, 11, Finn, 10 and Beau, six.
Earlier this month, Tori, 50, was spotted staying at a $100-a-night motel with her five children – which an insider told Newstimesuk.com Dean ‘took issue’ with.

Tori was nowhere to be seen on the set of QVC this week for the highly-anticipated launch of her home decor product line BFF Collection with Jenny and Tori.
‘Dean is also taking issue with Tori at these motels with the kids,’ they said. ‘He thinks the kids should stay at home and not hang out with Tori at the motel. He just believes it’s not the best for them at this time.’
Last week, Tori revealed that she and former 90210 alum Jenny Garth, 51, are launching their own line of home decor products with QVC, called BFF Collection with Jenny and Tori.
However, a day before the official launch, Jennie was seen on the QVC set promoting the brand without her co-founder Tori, whose absence was made evident in an Instagram post shared by the beauty brand’s founder, Malley Roncal, showing a photo of herself and Jennie with the caption: ‘Love spending time with @JennieGarth (missed you’).
Representatives for Torey and Dean did not respond to repeated requests for comment.
On June 16, Dean announced in a now-deleted Instagram post that read: ‘It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that after 18 years together and 5 amazing children, that @torispelling and I have decided to go our separate ways, and start a new journey of our own.’
The statement added, ‘We will continue to work together as loving parents and guide and love our children during this difficult time. We ask that you respect our privacy as we take this time to surround our family with love and work our way through this. Thank you for your support and kindness.’
Several days later, the troubled starlet was photographed unloading suitcases and other belongings at a friend’s house. In the photo, she looked visibly distressed with five kids in tow.
Dean was then seen moving his things into storage, while Tori was photographed wearing a ‘Boys Lie’ t-shirt.

Motel California: Tori and her kids recently stayed at this $100-a-night motel due to an alleged ‘mold infestation’ in the home.
On July 8, Tori and her children were photographed leaving a $100-night motel in Los Angeles, which she built over an alleged ‘mold problem’ in her family’s marital home.
The insider said: ‘Tori and Dean are doing really well and his hotel stay with their kids has nothing to do with the split.
‘They decided to stay because of an ongoing mold problem in their home. Tori is taking this matter very seriously and is not going to subject herself or her children to it.’
In a video obtained by Newstimesuk.com, Tori seemingly confirmed that she and Dean are over by saying, ‘I’ve always seen the best of myself.’
When asked about her decision to stay in a motel amid a mold infestation, she replied, ‘Are you a parent? You know you’ll do whatever you can for your kids, right?’
The pair have been dogged by split rumors for years and were both seen without their wedding rings throughout 2021 – the same year Tori admitted they were sleeping in separate rooms.
The pair – who first met on the set of a Canadian television show in 2005 when Dean was married to Mary Jo Eustace and Tori to Charlie Shanian – tried hard to save their marriage before throwing in the towel.
Over the years, every aspect of the roller coaster romance has been portrayed in a bittersweet and public way on their various reality TV shows, including Tori & Dean: Inn Love, Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, Tori & Dean: sTORIbook Weddings and the notorious.
In recent years, Dean has upped his game in his acting career but felt that, despite doing everything in his power to keep her happy, his efforts never paid off.

Tori has been pushing Dean to secure more roles to ‘support’ their family – but isn’t thrilled when those jobs take him away from home.
In 2021, Dean landed a lead role as Detective Barry Hamm in the Canadian TV show Pretty Hard Case. The same year, she starred in My Fake Boyfriend alongside Sarah Hyland and Dylan Sprouse.
‘He wanted her to start working and bring home money to support their family and she would land a lead role in a Canadian TV series and some big movie parts,’ the source said.
‘He wanted him to be a better father to their children and he devoted all his free time to them.’
‘He wanted her to be more romantic and he would go out of his way to bring her flowers, constantly shower her with gifts to show how much he loved her and eventually it sunk in.’
In December 2022, Tori shared photos with Dean and the kids on her social media. He included her in his snaps for the first time in years and fans were delighted to see the two working it out.
In September 2022, Tori was photographed with her mother Candy Spelling – from whom she had separated seven years earlier – and her brother Randy Spelling.
According to a source, ‘Dean was instrumental in helping Tori mend her broken relationship with her mother and brother.
‘Eventually Tori let him love her, and things were going great between them. But then she started taking him for granted and it went downhill fast.’
