Body found floating in Watson Bay in Sydney’s east 200m from iconic lookout point revealed to be nothing more than Gapman socks
A body has been found floating in a popular bay in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
Marine police were called to Watsons Bay shortly after 10am on Thursday following reports of boat wreckage in the water.
Emergency services responded to Watson Bay and the cliff face near Vaucluse after locals spotted a body about 200 meters from land.
Police have recovered the body of a man south of The Gap, one of Sydney’s most famous lookout points.

In a statement, NSW Police said no further information about the body, including age or identity, was available.
Witnesses told The Daily Telegraph that the body was pulled from the water shortly after 10am naked, wearing only socks.
Police urge anyone with information to contact Marine Area Command or Crime Stoppers.
