A white Hyundai Elantra with Queensland number plates was seen tearing through the city near North Rocks shopping center on Thursday, with a male driver and female passenger inside.
The car had a badly dented bonnet and was finally stopped when it crashed into a traffic light at North Rocks just after 11pm.

The police chase lasted 45 minutes and began on the M5 in Bankstown on Thursday morning, with as many as five police cars involved.
Miraculously, no one was injured despite the car swerving onto the pavement to avoid the police and driving above the speed limit as well as on the other side of the road.
Sometimes police cars have to pull back when the situation becomes increasingly dangerous.
After a 45-minute long chase, police pounced on the car as it crashed into a traffic pole.
The white Hyundai sped through the roundabout and came close to the truck and bus as the driver desperately tried to escape.
The spectacular car chase was broadcast live on major TV stations with Nine and Seven filming the American-style chase from a helicopter.
Channel Seven’s The Morning Show host Larry Edmure expressed his grief as the police chase was broadcast live from the studio.
‘Oh my God it’s so dangerous,’ she said.
The car was impounded by the police immediately after it hit a traffic pole.
Officers in the unmarked vehicle also tailgated the vehicle, with the occupants quickly removed and handcuffed.
Police were then seen removing clothes and other items from the car.
The Hyundai was stopped next to a school.
