Brooke Ann Smith to play Molly Lansing-Davis on General Hospital ... as character recasts for second time following star Haley Pulos' DUI arrest

General Hospital character Molly Lansing-Davis is being reinstated for a second time, months after original actress Haley Pulos was charged with a felony DUI.

Brooke Ann Smith, 39, will now take over the role on the long-running ABC soap opera.

After her arrest in May, the role of 25-year-old Haley was first given to actress Holiday Mia Kriegel.

However, Holiday was replaced a few weeks later by Smith, who debuted on the show on July 19.

It is not known if Smith is taking on the role permanently or if he is filling in temporarily.

Haley had originally been playing Molly since 2009 before her DUI.

Pulos was charged with a felony count of driving under the influence in connection with a near-fatal car crash in April.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney charged him with a felony count of driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .08 and a misdemeanor count of hit-and-run.

The actress pleaded not guilty with a preliminary hearing to be held in July.

Pulos allegedly drove the wrong way on the 134 Freeway in Pasadena while intoxicated and hit another vehicle at 60mph.

The actress collided with an Oldsmobile driven by a 27-year-old woman from Fontana in the westbound lane shortly before the fatal collision.

He was taken to the hospital where he was later arrested for driving under the influence and prior hit and run.

The other driver, Courtney Wilder, also had to be taken to the hospital in critical condition after the April 29 crash.

Wilder, 23, is also suing Pulos, saying he drove the wrong way on an off-ramp, and didn’t have time to react when he saw his headlights approaching.

Wilder says he suffered lasting injuries and that his car was a total wreck afterward, and is suing the actress for damages.

First responders who rushed to the scene found Pulos smelling of alcohol with slurred speech and glassy eyes.

Police then searched his white 2019 Ford and found marijuana edibles and tequila miniatures.

In May, Pulos was spotted by Newstimesuk.com checking out a luxury rehab facility in Malibu.

He was taken by his father to a $2,600-a-week detox and residential treatment center.

The luxury rehab center boasts a range of alcohol and drug addiction treatments, from ten-day long detoxes to more intensive medication-assisted treatment with a residential option for round-the-clock care.

An intensive outpatient program is then offered as a transition, as well as an aftercare program for those who use the facilities.

Critical: Both Pulos and Courtney Wilder survived the collision, with the latter suffering serious injuries

Crash: Authorities say Pulos was traveling on the 134 Freeway in California just before 1:30 a.m. on April 29 when he crashed.

Wilder claims in court documents for his case that Pulos should never have been behind the wheel on April 29 and should have at least stopped driving when he was involved in a hit-and-run earlier that night.

He also alleged that Pulos hit a firefighter at the scene who was assessing his injuries and yelled, ‘That’s a $400 f****** shirt!’

He argues that Poulos cares more about ‘overpriced shirts’ than the safety and well-being of accident victims.

Authorities confirmed that the driver of the first vehicle was not seriously injured, adding a police report: ‘It was determined that Haley Pulos was involved in a hit and run traffic collision in the city of Pasadena before entering the wrong lane. Eastbound SR-134 Freeway.’

He then swerved and ended up in the eastbound lane, colliding with an oncoming Kia traveling at 60mph.

The Kia driver, then identified only as a 23-year-old man, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

According to the police report, Poulos was unable to get out of his wrecked vehicle and was also injured.

The Pasadena Fire Department had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate Pulos from his car before he was taken to Huntington Hospital.

Once there, he allegedly became aggressive and fought with hospital staff, before he had to be restrained.

After the accident, Pulos announced that he was being temporarily replaced on the General Hospital show.

Poulos played Molly Lansing-Davis on the long-running show for nearly 500 episodes of the soap opera.

She also appeared in an episode of the medical drama House, and was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in 2015 for her role on General Hospital.

And she starred in the pilot episode of Dollhouse and played young Melinda in Ghost Whisperer.

In 2020, she played Bella Schmerz in Ashley Garcia’s The Expanding Universe.
