A US Marine veteran who claimed his unit saw a secret military UFO in 2009 says he now lives in fear for his life because he believes dark forces want to silence him.
Former rifleman Michael Herrera, 33, says he doesn’t want to end up like disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein — who he suggests was murdered, though his August 2019 death was ruled a suicide.
Last month, Denver-born Herrera sensationally claimed that while he was working in Indonesia in 2009, his six-man unit stumbled upon a flying saucer loaded with weapons.
Herrera was then a 20-year-old rifleman who was sent on a Navy humanitarian mission during the 2009 Sumatra earthquake and tsunami that devastated the region.
He told the Mail that while guarding an airdrop of aid supplies outside the city of Padang in October that year, his six-man unit stumbled upon a hovering octagonal craft apparently in use by covert US forces.

Herrera claimed that an Air Force lieutenant colonel told him: ‘You are not allowed to talk about what happened. You go to jail or you die’
Speaking at length with podcaster Sean Ryan, Herrera said he worries that he will one day be killed by the evil forces he believes are trying to cover up UFO secrets.
‘I could see something moving and spinning. It was changing color between a very light matte gray to a very dark matte black,’ he said. ‘It stuck out like a sore thumb.’
They were then threatened at gunpoint by unmarked US forces at the scene who told him not to divulge his ‘flying saucer’ sighting to anyone, according to Herrera, and his camera was confiscated by some mysterious ‘black men’.
Herrera, 33, said he doesn’t want to suffer the same fate as Jeffrey Epstein — who he suggested registers as a suicide.
Now, the former Marine claims the threat is hovering over him — quite literally, as he says black helicopters are circling his Denver home.
People who say they’ve had alien encounters often complain of being held by black helicopters—a common trope that skeptics claim is just an urban myth.
Speaking at length with podcaster Sean Ryan, he said he worries that he will one day be killed by sinister forces that he believes are trying to cover up the Pentagon’s UFO secrets.
‘I don’t feel like harming myself…everyone jokes that Epstein didn’t kill himself…so here it is,’ Herrera said.
‘I have no reason to harm myself so if something happens – it’s not from me.
‘I have had many encounters with helicopters hovering over my house,’ he added. ‘They were also prowling my father’s house.
‘They go down so low, where they shake the walls [and] Scared away from the animals we found.
‘[My dad’s] The dogs were going crazy at the time and he was worried because he was at home and he was like I’ve never heard anything like that.’
Herrera added that he believes other UFO whistleblowers have been subjected to similar scare tactics.

‘There’s a kind of hysterical factor in how much money they spend trying to scare me or anyone else for that matter,’ he said.
Herrera said he was encouraged by new UFO whistleblower protections to break his 14-year silence and testified under oath about his wild story in April.
‘There are some elected officials, even some government officials that I know have the same thing happening to them because they’ve told me about it personally.’
Herrera’s claim of UFO sightings in Indonesia comes after 14 years of silence.
He felt encouraged by the new UFO whistleblower protections and testified under oath to the government’s UFO investigation team, the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), as well as to a Senate committee in April.
Praveen provided his perfect four-year service record and text about the incident with a co-accused witness – who refused to speak, saying it was ‘not worth putting my life or my family in danger’.
Peripheral aspects of his account were verified by Newstimesuk.com using military sources. But Herrera, 33, has no records or photos of the incident.
