Perth couple remorseful after two men halted Bali flight, leaving 100 on ground

Around 100 passengers were stranded when their flight to Bali was canceled after two men had to boot off for swearing and joking about ‘bombs’.

A fully booked AirAsia flight was preparing to take off from Perth on Tuesday when the couple, aged 28 and 29, created such a disturbance that security guards were called to remove them from the plane.

Footage taken by other passengers shows agitated men confronting security guards in the plane’s aisles.

‘Get your hands off me,’ says a man.

‘Don’t start or I’ll cuff you,’ warns a guard.

‘Don’t push just take a deep breath.’

One of the men was seen holding a bottle of alcohol as he boarded an AirAsia flight to Bali

Applause from those seated as the two troubled men were led away.

Passenger Anna Gunzberg said the men were apparently under the influence of alcohol before boarding the flight.

‘They were clearly intoxicated before going into the tunnel,’ she said.

‘They were swinging from bottles. It was a joke.’

Conor O’Kill, another passenger on the ill-fated flight, said the men were causing trouble beyond being loud.

‘Then they started swearing and saying stuff and talking about bombs on planes,’ he said.

Unfortunately the whole incident left the remaining passengers sitting on the tarmac for three hours before the flight was cancelled.

A man was unrepentant when asked about his behavior after being kicked off a plane

The two men, aged 28 and 29, were unrepentant to a Seven News reporter as they sat in an airport bar after being kicked off the plane.

Asked what explained his behaviour, one said: ‘I drank a bottle of Jameson (Irish whisky), that’ll do.’

He went on to claim that he ‘didn’t abuse anyone’.

‘I wasn’t being rude to anyone, I was a bit drunk,’ he said.

‘If they had just taken off the plane I would have fallen asleep and everyone would have been in Bali.’

His partner was equally embarrassed.

‘I’m going to jump on the next plane,’ he said matter-of-factly.

The couple were fined $500 each for their antics.
