New center court king and queen Carlos Alcaraz and Marketa Vondrosova celebrate their new Wimbledon title at the Champions Dinner (but the Czech winner keeps her trainers on for the glitzy event)
The new King and Queen of Center Court were unveiled at a lavish Champions Dinner yesterday after Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz won his first Wimbledon men’s singles title.
Alcaraz, 20, and Marketa Vondrosova, 24, who won the women’s singles title earlier in the day, were seen posing with their trophies at a celebratory dinner after winning their final at SW19.
Vondrosova was congratulated by the Princess of Wales on Saturday after the unheralded Czech became a first-time Grand Slam champion.
And in an intriguing men’s singles final yesterday, Alcaraz served his rival Novak Djokovic a heartbreaking defeat in front of a hugely excited Prince George and Princess Charlotte who punched the air in victory.
His stunning win came as the two best men’s tennis players in the world played out a match, filled with fury from both sides.
The annual Ball Tournament of Champions is a long-standing tradition. Winners and runners-up from that year will dress to the nines to celebrate the winners.
