A pubgoer claims to have discovered the ‘world’s biggest Wetherspoon chip’ which dwarfs his burger and is the size of his fork.
Sophie Turnock, 24, was left disappointed when she was served ‘small’ 15 fries at The Reginald Mitchell Wetherspoon in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, after a day of shopping on May 28.
However, the 24-year-old got more than he bargained for after what he believed to be the ‘world’s biggest Wetherspoon chip’ hidden in his cheese and bacon burger meal.
Mrs Turnock, who was dining at the time with partner Max Sugden, 27, and six-year-old son Finn Turnock, claimed the monster fry was about the size of her fork – seven inches long.
The mum-of-two said the huge treat was buried under other food – and was uncovered after Finn pinched another chip from his plate.

Mrs Turnock claimed the deep-fried delicacy was so large that the family broke it apart to see if it was a ‘fake’, as they believed it was impossible to find a potato of that size.
The stay-at-home mum claimed the generously large fry made up for the fact she only got 15-chips – as it was the size of ‘three chips in one’.
The Stoke-on-Trent native said: ‘As silly as it sounds, it was underneath all the other chips, so we didn’t see it at first.
‘I took a bite out of the burger, and my son said, “Mum can I have a chip”, and he took the chip out.
‘Then we were like, “Oh – look at the size of that chip”.
‘I was so shocked to see it – I said to myself, “What potato is that from”?
‘Honestly, it was the size of a potato chip. So how did they get such a big potato?
‘At first I thought it was fake. I thought you wouldn’t get potatoes that big – I’ve never seen potatoes that big.
‘My partner was also shocked. He thought the chip was not genuine. We removed the chip to check.
‘I think it’s an 18cm [seven inch] Chip, and I’m not exaggerating. You wouldn’t believe it if I didn’t take a picture of it next to the fork.
‘We didn’t have a lot of chips, so that kind of made up for it. It was like three chips in one.
‘I actually think it’s the biggest Wetherspoon chip in the world.’
She also claims that Finn was given the honor of plonking down the fork-sized surprise – soon after mum snapped some photos to share on social media.
While Mrs Turnock said finding the chip ‘made her day’, the shocked diner claimed she should have contacted someone about the fry as it could have been a record-setter.
Wetherspoon enthusiastically claims the family often eats at the popular UK chain and says she will be on the lookout for more giant chips in the future.
The 24-year-old said: ‘My son enjoyed eating it. He was six and was like, “Can I have it?” So he ends up having the chip. I couldn’t say no to him.
‘She enjoyed it. He said it tasted like a regular chip – only huge.
‘It was the most random of events. It made our day, we haven’t stopped talking about it.
‘I should have contacted someone – [it could have been in] Guinness World Record Book for Chips.
‘I’ll be on the lookout for more giant Wetherspoon chips in the future. We also go to Wetherspoon a lot.’
