The Princess of Wales revealed that Prince Louis was ‘very upset’ to miss Wimbledon yesterday as he was ‘practising being a ballboy’.
Kate Middleton, 41, was joined by Prince William, 41, and her eldest children Prince George, nine, and Princess Charlotte, eight, at the All England Club on Sunday for the men’s final.
Both George and his younger sister were overwhelmed by the action, punching the air with joy to celebrate Carlos Alcaraz’s maiden Wimbledon title in a five-set nail-biting epic against Novak Djokovic.
But five-year-old Louis, the youngest member of the family, was unhappy that he couldn’t join them this year despite practicing being a ballboy.
Arriving in SW19 with her husband and two children, the Princess of Wales told Ella Ottway, who runs the All England Club’s youth programme: ‘Louise was very upset she wasn’t coming today.’

During the conversation, Kate revealed: ‘It’s Charlotte’s first time, George came last year. They looked eagerly.
‘Charlotte, you’ve got to grips with the scoring.
After their conversation, 16-year-old boy Joel revealed that Louis ‘tries to practice standing up and being serious like us’.
He added: ‘He tries to practice the stand and how we stand behind the court and next to the players.’
Prince Louis often manages to steal the show at royal engagements, from dramatically covering his ears to sticking his tongue out at his mother on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
During the coronation, the youngster was seen cheering for his grandfather from the royal carriage, shouting: ‘Yaay say king. Ya Raja,’ lip-reading expert Jackie told Press Female.
She was seen excitedly waving at royal fans and whispering to her sister Charlotte as they left.
But it is possible that Prince Louis was unable to attend the event at Wimbledon yesterday because, at five years old, he is too young.

Their mother, the Princess of Wales, beamed as she congratulated the 20-year-old Spaniard and presented him with his trophy.
According to Wimbledon’s official website, ‘Tickets are not required for under-fives, but children under five are not permitted on the Show Courts (Centre, No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, Court 12 and Court 18’).
But Louis had to be seen from home yesterday, having enjoyed a day out with the whole family on Friday.
The royal attended a military air show in Gloucestershire with her parents and siblings.
During the engagement, the family of five were taken on a tour of the massive C-17 transporter plane – which was used to transport the late Queen’s coffin in the days leading up to her funeral last September.
At one point on the tour, Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte and Prince William paused by a display board to read about the history of the aircraft.
Standing next to his older sister, Prince Louis happily spoke to RAF members – but broke down when he heard a plane take off at the airport.
The royal paused for a moment before covering her ears with her hands and letting out a small cry.
The youngest son of the Prince and Princess of Wales looked around for his parents, quite disturbed by the noise.
However, Louis was only distracted for a few seconds and quickly returned his attention to the images on the display board.
It wasn’t the first time Prince Louis had been bothered by loud engine noise – as he covered his ears during his recent Trooping the Color appearance in June.
In May, Prince Louis told a royal fan that he wanted to follow in Prince William’s footsteps one day and become a pilot.
