Alex Murdoff appears shirtless in leaked photos from his South Carolina jail-issued tablet

Shirtless selfies of Alex Murdoff have been leaked from his South Carolina jail-issued tablet while sitting in his prison cell, which he uses to play games and make FaceTime calls.

Moordoff is seen with and without his t-shirt, wearing headphones and with his t-shirt on in snapshots that are believed to have been automatically taken by his device each time he logs on.

The South Carolina Department of Corrections photos were taken throughout June and show Moordoff’s ginger hair has returned since March, when his first photo from prison showed him with a shaved head.

Murdaugh — who is currently serving two life sentences for the shooting deaths of his wife Maggie, 52, and son Paul, 22 — can even be seen smiling in some of the 34 photos obtained by the YouTuber’s phone call from prison in a Freedom of Information request. .

The empty surroundings of the room show a metal bed frame and a single desk lamp attached to a railing – and at least one photo appears to have been taken at night, with Moordoff’s face only illuminated. tablets

In a series of selfies from prison, Moordoff is seen using a prison-issued tablet with which he makes video calls.

Many of the photos show Murdoff with his top off – some from above as he rests in bed – while others show him wearing a white T-shirt and the occasional set of yellow headphones.

Sometimes he can be seen hugging a cushion to his chest inside his small cell at the McCormick Correctional Institution near South Carolina’s border with Georgia.

Murdaugh doesn’t seem too unhappy in his new home and can be seen relaxing in some snaps as he puts his hands behind his head.

It’s unclear if Murdoff was making video calls to his remaining son, Buster, from the tablet — which doesn’t allow normal Internet access but allows inmates to make calls to family and friends with prison approval.

The gadgets come with a selection of basic apps including movies, games and radio that inmates are allowed to listen to and are also believed to be able to send emails to approved contacts.

Fellow YouTuber JumpSuitPablo who also posted a video of them online said he believes the prison’s air conditioning system may have tripped due to recent storms in South Carolina causing Murdaugh to take off his top.

At least one photo appears to have been taken late at night with the prison cell lights off and Murdoff’s face illuminated only by the glow of the tablet.

When the tablets were first introduced to prisons in 2019, there was outrage online.

A viewer told local TV station ABC4, ‘This is a luxury cruise, not a prison.’

‘Throw the craziness at criminals in prison because they’re still breaking the law in prison,’ said another.

The tablet is supposed to help inmates connect with family and friends in a ‘more meaningful way’

‘Boys who are just using them because they want to lie in their bunk at night and talk to their mum, now they’ll be able to do that with these tablets,’ said former corrections director John Ozmint.

‘I think they do more than anything else they fight the boredom that breeds depression, by eliminating boredom you’re also eliminating depression,’ says Ozmint.

More than 140 institutions across the country are said to be using similar devices.

“My biggest selling point was talking to other directors and other prison administrators about how much safer it made for their officers, staff,” said Brian Sterling, director of corrections in South Carolina.

‘Safe because prisoners were engaged, able to study, communicate and relax. They will pay for that benefit. Their use will be charged and heavily monitored, just like a conventional phone call.’

As a convicted double murderer, Marduff is housed with some of the most brutal and violent inmates in the state.

McCormick Correctional Institution, which has a maximum capacity of 1,128 adult male inmates, has a violent and chaotic history that includes inmate riots, inmates being killed in their cells and drug smuggling via drones.

Despite his crimes, Murdoff has reportedly been bombarded with love letters and approached for more episodes of the Netflix docuseries Murdoff Murders: A Southern Scandal.

The life he lives now is a far cry from the privileged world of multi-million dollar homes on the Lowcountry hunting grounds from the coast to which he is accustomed.

Prisoners can be held in the general population or in special management, which is reserved for those who are difficult to manage, disciplined, have safety and security concerns, or are in protective custody.

Offenders at the Level 3 maximum security facility on the Georgia-South Carolina border are typically violent. They are closely supervised and housed in single or double bunked rooms.

Offenders can take adult literacy courses, earn a GED, and are offered a variety of religious services and substance abuse treatment programs.

McCormick Correctional Institution also participates in the correctional arts program, and inmates are employed in an upholstery shop, powder coating metal products, and a modular furniture plant.

Murdaugh was found guilty of murdering his wife and son at the family’s hunting estate in Moselle in June 2021 after a trial in the county where he was previously a top solicitor.

Through more than 75 witnesses and nearly 800 pieces of evidence, jurors heard about treacherous friends and clients, a failed attempt to fake Murdaugh’s own death in an insurance fraud scheme, a fatal boating accident involving his son, a housekeeper who died in a fall at the Murdaugh home. And the gruesome scene of the carnage.

The lawyer admitted to stealing millions of dollars from the family firm and clients, saying he needed the money to pay for his drug habit.

Before he was charged with murder, Murduff was in prison awaiting trial on nearly 100 charges ranging from insurance fraud to tax evasion.

During his trial, the disgraced Murdoff, whose family has wielded considerable judicial power in the region for three generations, lied to cops about his alibi before taking the stand in which he changed his story.

The life Moordoff now faces is a shift from the privileged world of multimillion-dollar homes to the hunting grounds of the Lowcountry from the coast to the one he’s used to.

Just after 10 p.m. on June 7, 2021, Murduff called 911 crying to claim he had discovered his wife and son shot to death outside the kennels of their estate.

However, Murdoff fired five shots at his wife with an automatic rifle before shooting his son in the head and chest with a different weapon to make it appear as if his brutal killing was an ambush.

As police arrived at the scene, the lawyer said he went to visit his mother and returned to discover his Maggie and Paul dead.

As video evidence would later reveal, he was lying.

Prosecutors believe Murdoff killed his wife and son because he feared his years of stealing millions of dollars from his law firm and clients would be exposed and his high standing in the community crumbled.

They said he hoped their deaths would make him a sympathetic figure and draw attention away from the missing money.
