Princess Kate’s appearance this afternoon comes after a rainy family day on Friday to visit the Royal International Air Tattoo.

She and Prince William took Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, to the Gloucestershire base where they visited the plane carrying his late great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth from Edinburgh last September for her funeral.

William, 41, and Kate were all smiles as they arrived at the air show with the young royals, where they were greeted by Wing Commander Will Essex.

They were greeted by gray skies that brought heavy rain but there were few planes in the sky before they arrived.

The event was a return visit for George, who celebrates his 10th birthday on July 22. He was taken to the show by his parents in 2016, aged three, and was pictured wearing ear defenders at the time.

The royal children wore light casual clothes for the summer day and George and Charlotte, who wore a Rachel Riley dress, looked out over the rain-soaked concrete surrounding the giant plane as they stepped out of their car.

It was the first family trip to Wales since the three children were separated for the summer holidays from Lambbrook School.

They shook hands with senior members of the RAF before climbing the giant ramp of the transport aircraft with their parents.

George was tasked with partially ramping up the ramp and was seen pressing buttons like his father.

As the family traveled by plane, Louis liked to stand by a car and look out over the airfield.

However, a board displaying information about the aircraft’s history invested Prince Louis on the tour again, and he later rejoined his parents.

Meanwhile, Princess Charlotte listened attentively during the engagement and stayed close to her parents. However, he was led astray by his younger brother – who was shocked by something he saw on the plane’s roof.
