A black college graduate ripped the microphone out of a white administrator’s hand when he cut her off during her commencement speech, and footage of the incident sparked online backlash.

‘I want the mic,’ Iman can be heard yelling at the teacher as she aggressively pulls the electronics from him. ‘Let’s go. You didn’t let me have my moment.’
Each student was given a chance to say their name, major and a little something about themselves as they made their way to the stage, the influencer and only fan star admitted in a separate TikTok video. But when she and other black students had the chance to speak, she said she noticed the woman was ‘pulling the mic too fast for some black people.’
Iman told the crowd her full name as she ‘relived’ the moment.

‘I don’t like how you took the mic out of my hand and today is going to be all about me,’ she told the administrator before forcefully throwing the microphone to the ground and walking away.
‘I don’t want to be that person, but that was tea. So, I couldn’t let that happen, I couldn’t let that happen because I worked so hard to graduate, worked so hard to graduate, that I felt I needed to reclaim my moment,’ she said.
‘I’m not a problem person, I don’t want to ruin anyone’s day. I don’t want to offend anyone, but he did.’

The college was not named and an administrator at the unnamed facility did not comment on the video.
