A Spotify star who stabbed a student to death after mocking him for his skateboarding skills has been jailed for 15 years.

Shiloh Pottinger fatally wounded 19-year-old Luke O’Connor when he stabbed him with a 13-inch ‘Mafia stiletto’ knife in Manchester in October 2022.

The 20-year-old claimed he was acting in self-defence, when he attacked Mr O’Connor and a friend of the victims as they were returning home from a house party in the city.

CCTV footage of the incident showed Pottinger repeatedly stabbing Mr O’Connor in the head with his skateboard after the victims told him to do a trick with it.

The son of a rapper, himself an aspiring up-and-coming musician, was not found guilty of murder but was found guilty of manslaughter by a jury at Manchester Crown Court last month.

Luke O’Connor (pictured) was repeatedly stabbed by Pottinger in a fight as he walked home from a house party.

Today he returned to court where he was jailed for 15 years for killing the student, described by his heartbroken family as a ‘gentle giant’.

Paying tribute to the second-year business management student, who enrolled at Manchester Metropolitan University, his family previously said they had ‘left a hole in our hearts that will never be filled’.

Pottinger, who has had one of his tracks listened to more than half a million times on the streaming platform Spotify, will be eligible for parole in 10 years after serving two-thirds of his sentence.
