The feud between Sex and the City co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall became almost as famous as the iconic opening credit tutus, cosmopolitan cocktails and endless weekend brunches.
However, with Cattrall returning for a cameo in the show’s sequel and Just Like That’s second series, it seems his co-star Parker is finally looking for peace.
Parker, 58, has finally broken her silence on the return of her old nemesis, branding the return of Cattrall, 66, ‘really fun and exciting and definitely nostalgic’ and adding: ‘It’s been a lot of fun.’
The two women are seen talking to each other on the telephone in the upcoming series, which premieres this Thursday. Sources indicate that they didn’t have to share studio space or even talk to film the scene.
Co-star Evan Handler, who plays Harry Goldenblatt, said Cattrall filmed his part ‘in a garage’ in March and had not contacted any of them.

However, there seems to be some hint of a thaw about Cattrall agreeing to appear, and already many fans of the show have welcomed him with joy.
Viewers had previously complained that the absence of Manetta’s PR Samantha Jones changed the tone of the show.
Parker said: ‘We’ve been really thoughtful in the ways that we’ve, you know, interacted with characters that weren’t around, the ways that we’ve invited actors back and it’s been, you know, really fun and exciting and definitely nostalgic, but I think More than that, it’s a lot of fun.’
But Kristen Davis, who co-stars as show lead Charlotte Goldenblatt, reflects that the four original cast members have always been divided – and that Cattrall’s cameo doesn’t mean there’s ‘closure’ or ‘resolution’ to the feud.
She said: ‘I think that sometimes you really have friends in life who are very different from you. And I think that’s great. ok?…
‘And I think that’s what was great about the four of us, because obviously, Charlotte had a different perspective on Samantha and Carrie and Miranda sometimes…
‘We’ve all represented different points of view at different times, and sometimes argued, you know, and sometimes not as friends…
‘I don’t know that there’s necessarily a closure or a resolution, they’re just like, big things that I don’t know that we’re going to…
Back again: Parker, 58, finally broke his silence on the return of his old nemesis and called the return of Cattrall, 66, ‘really fun and exciting and definitely nostalgic’, adding: ‘It’s been a lot of fun.
Stunners: Sarah Jessica is pictured with the show’s other stars, Cythea Nixon and Kristin Davis, who play Miranda and Charlotte respectively.
Happy Days: However, Cattrall agreeing to appear signals a bit of a thaw in the relationship, and many fans of the show have already welcomed it with glee.

Kristen continued: ‘I don’t know if we’re even trying to close at this point, or to resolve. I think we just thought you know, here, you know, our character is gone. And we know people miss him and Carrie misses her…
‘And wouldn’t it be great to get some with him, you know, that’s what we wanted. And then I think maybe hope is lifted, maybe even more than that. And it was not our intention. So I hope people will not be disappointed.’
In an interview with Vanity Fair magazine published last week, actress Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda Hobbes, said that the atmosphere on set was very awkward when Cattrall was in the cast.
She said: ‘It makes a huge difference that you’re not walking around on eggshells with someone who’s unhappy because it’s hard to even understand what they are.’
Parker and Cattrall were never friends, and reports suggest that there was a quick three-to-one split between the four main female characters, which left Cattrall feeling isolated.
The arrival of Parker’s friend Michael Patrick King as producer, and Parker’s promotion to executive producer with increased money, were also believed to be a problem.
In 2004, when the series ended, it was notable that Cattrall sat apart from the others at the Emmy Awards. He said: ‘Are we best friends? no We are professional actresses. We have separate lives.’
During the first SATC film in 2009, Parker and Cattrall were said to no longer be on speaking terms, although both denied reports of friction.
Then came the excitement over the desire for a third film, which Cattrall was not keen on doing.
Cattrall told Piers Morgan in Life Stories: ‘I really think she could have been nicer.’
After Cattrall’s brother died in 2018, Parker expressed his grief via Instagram.
Cattrall hit back: ‘The constant reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you were then and now. Let me make it very clear. (If I haven’t already). you are not my family You are not my friend.’
Chris Noth, who played Parker’s on-screen husband in And Just Like That, said in 2021: ‘I just wish the whole thing had never happened because it was sad and uncomfortable…
‘I don’t like to see anyone talking about SJ because he is a target and people can be mean. I felt very protective of him and I wasn’t happy about it.
