Relaxed, smiling and very clearly colour-coordinated, the Prince of Wales and his three adorable children make a delightful picture for Father’s Day.
In this picture released to mark the occasion, Prince George, nine, and Princess Charlotte, eight, look up at their father while Prince Louis, five, beams directly into the camera as he throws his arms around dad in a giant bear hug.
The photo also features a subtle but poignant tribute to the children’s great-grandfather, as they pose on a bench installed in Windsor to commemorate the late Queen’s 90th birthday on April 19, 2016.
It was taken by photographer and family friend Millie Pilkington at the Windsor estate earlier this year – possibly around the same time she photographed Louis in a pram to mark his fifth birthday in April.
She’s wearing the same outfit, of course: a £75 Fair Isle sweater from Lally London over a collared white-and-blue check shirt.

Last year, the photo captured a joyful moment on a family vacation in Jordan. The three children are seen roaring with laughter at a joke that, due to William’s blushes, could cost their father.

George mirrors dad in a shirt and jeans while Charlotte wears a cute but uncomfortable daisy print dress by Rachel Riley London, one of mum Kate’s favorite children’s designers.
There was already a wait of up to eight weeks to get hold of the £59 puff-sleeve button-front dress, even before this picture was published last night.
The Princess of Wales may not be in the picture – it marks Father’s Day – but as an amateur photographer she has an eye for a good shot and has the final say on which pictures get released.
A similar picture was released last year as well. Then, the photo captures a joyful moment on a family vacation in Jordan.
All three children are seen roaring with laughter, likely due to William’s blush, at their father’s expense.

Each photo is evidence of the carefree childhood William was so determined to provide his son and daughter. But he has vowed to ‘uncover’ their homelessness just as his mother, the late Princess of Wales, did for him.
Prince Louis stole the show when he saluted cheering crowds on his grandfather King Charles’ official birthday on June 17.
Prince William, Kate and their three children looked delighted at the wonderful flypast
In an interview with The Sunday Times ahead of the launch of the ‘End Homelessness’ campaign in Britain, Prince William said he wanted to do it so ‘they [will] Grow up knowing that… some of us are very lucky, some of us need a little helping hand, some of us need to do a little more where we can help others improve their lives.
Last year, ahead of his 40th birthday, William shared a very happy photo taken during a family holiday in Jordan.
It shows William sitting between Prince George, eight, and Princess Charlotte, now seven, with his youngest, Prince Louis, now four, perched on his shoulder. He was pleasantly surprised when his children roared with laughter.
This photo differed from other official photographs of the period in that it was not taken by Princess Kate, a keen amateur photographer. Instead, Kensington Palace said the delightful portrait was captured by a private, unnamed photographer during the previous autumn holiday.
A similar image of Cambridge, apparently taken on the same day and showing Kate in a khaki green dress and William in an olive shirt and beige shorts, was used for the family’s most recent Christmas card.
This portrait, however, provides a more informal, relaxed view of family life. Although the exact location has not been revealed, the picturesque sandstone background suggests it may have been taken from the ancient archaeological site of Petra in Jordan’s southwestern desert.
The Cambridges have a personal relationship with Jordan, as Kate lived there for three years when her father Michael was posted to the capital Amman for a job with British Airways in May 1984 when she was two and her sister Pippa was eight months. the old

A picture of Prince William and Prince Harry having fun during a childhood trip to Birkhall, Balmoral Estate, was posted by Prince Charles on Father’s Day last year
The first photo to appear on Charles’ Instagram gallery last year was a black-and-white picture of Charles with his late father Prince Philip, both in military uniform.
The Duchess of Cornwall also shared a photo of herself with her own father, the late Major Bruce Shand, last Father’s Day.
And around the same time last year, Charles shared a touching picture of himself enjoying a happy time with sons William and Harry on Father’s Day.
He shared the Clarence House Instagram page, captioning them ‘Happy Father’s Day everyone!’ – with a photo of his sons appearing as the final image in the gallery.
The picture shows a smiling Prince Charles, wearing a kilt, hugging his sons during a trip to Birkhall, the Prince of Wales’ home on the Balmoral Estate in the Eighties.
Charles and Camilla also released photos of Prince Philip in military uniform and Camilla with her father, Major Bruce Shand.
