A man is in custody after a U-Haul truck crashed into a barrier near the White House Monday night with no injuries reported at the scene, as multiple D.C. law enforcement agencies descend on the area to assist The news is breaking: More to follow

Police have charged a suspect who crashed a truck into the White House security barrier with multiple crimes, including attempting to kill, kidnap or harm the president, vice president or a family member.

QUSA9 reports that the man who drove his U-Haul truck into the White House security gate Monday night is facing five charges.

The truck with the Nazi flag was found on Monday night.

There were no casualties at the scene after the accident around 10pm. The truck was quickly deemed safe by DC police.

The name of the driver or details of the incident were not immediately released.

Authorities found a Nazi flag complete with a large swastika on the truck. Footage from a local photojournalist shows a law enforcement officer folding the flag, which was spread on the ground in front of the crowd.

The Secret Service confirmed that the US Park Police will file the charges with the Secret Service’s assistance.

A driver was arrested after crashing into a barricade near the White House on Monday night

“No Secret Service or White House personnel were injured and the cause and manner of the accident remain under investigation,” Secret Service communications chief Anthony Guglielmi wrote on Twitter.

‘The driver may have intentionally hit the safety barriers,’ he added in a second tweet, which declared the truck safe.

Some streets and walkways around Lafayette Square, where the driver crashed, were temporarily closed while the scene was inspected.

The Washington Post also reported that the nearby Hay Adams Hotel was evacuated at the request of the Secret Service.

After the initial crash, the truck driver hit the curb a second time. Video footage of the incident showed the driver trying to keep going after the first crash.

Officers at the scene investigated the contents of the box truck and apparently found a Nazi flag on the vehicle

The Secret Service released the following statement Monday night:

‘Shortly before 10:00 p.m. Monday, Secret Service Uniformed Division officers detained the driver of a box truck after the vehicle collided with a security barrier on the north side of Lafayette Square at 16th Street.

“No Secret Service or White House personnel were injured and the cause and manner of the accident remain under investigation. Road closures are in effect and pedestrian walkways are closed as we investigate.”

President Biden was in the White House at the time of the incident, even though the property is one of the most secure in the world, with plenty of security features to keep intruders out.
