Catholic Massachusetts prep school goes on lockdown after report of active shooter: Police say ‘no immediate threat’ as they search for ‘gunman’
A Catholic Massachusetts prep school went into lockdown today amid reports of an active shooter.
St. John’s Preparatory School issued an alert on its website Monday afternoon, saying both Danvers Police and Massachusetts State Police were on the scene.
Massachusetts police are inside the school and say there is no immediate threat, but troopers are still conducting a second sweep.

No police force has confirmed the shooting or whether anyone was injured. The school is a grades 6-12 private, Catholic, all-boys college-preparatory school in North Boston.
‘Massachusetts State Police said in a tweet: ‘At 1:49 p.m. dozens of troopers and @Danvers Police responded to St. John’s Prep for a report of a man with a gun at the school. Immediately entered and no threats were identified at this time.
The teams are sweeping the secondary. We are not aware of any injuries at this time. More to follow.’

‘There has been a report of an active shooter on campus at Benjamin Hall. Danvers and State Police are on scene. Teachers and staff are sheltering in place.
‘We will provide updates as soon as possible,’ reads the school’s website warning.
